Several weeks ago, we asked for our Bristol postgraduate researchers to tweet us their summer travels as they conducted fieldwork, attended conferences, or researched abroad. And haven’t some of you been busy! Campus is always quiet during the summer months, and we have enjoyed living vicariously through our PGRs hard -at-work in far flung corners of the world. From Sydney to Morocco to LA, our PGRs have been representing Bristol across the globe, clocking up a shocking 53, 243 miles of travel between them!
We also promised winners for the furthest travelled and most obscure destinations. We are delighted to announce that the recipients will be rewarded with a £50 contribution to their next research-related travel, reimbursable to the BDC at any point over the next year. So, without further ado…
Furthest Destination goes to Barry Main, who travelled 10, 645 miles to Sydney, Australia, where he presented his work at the ISDMISEHC 2015 conference.
Most Obscure Destination goes to Tim Marshall, who travelled to an undisclosed location in rural Northern India to conduct field research in an ethnographic study of the everyday experiences of young people (aged 14-25) with intellectual disabilities.
